What are the basic means of transport for people who wish to commute to their offices, colleges, schools, or other places, both professional and occasional? Well, most people have their own motorbikes, or cars, in case they want to travel to their professional destinations. Others may use the public transport, which maybe perhaps good on the ecological front.
But, all these kind of transport means are always under constant strains, mainly due to breakdowns or technical faults, at least once in our everyday travels, or in case of public transport, they may be stalled for a strike, based on the varying moods of the Government. So, in such cases, one might be pushed to varying conditions of stress, that too at a time when we are getting late for office, or college or any other destination for that matter.
Well, it is only logical to wonder: what other option do we have in such a stressed situation? That question seems to have been answered by the creators of the app, meraLift, which is India's first social bike Sharing and Catch-up app. This app seems to be the cool new thing down the block.
meraLift works on the basis of offering lifts and getting lifts from people nearby, who are integrated in your contact list. Basically, the ones involved in offering and taking lifts, are people whom you know, which is far better than taking lifts from a complete stranger.
And as far as the catching up aspect of the app is concerned, it enables us to connect with our friends in our contact lists, chat up online and catch up with them, on a regular basis. And better than this, we can also give rides to a college mate, or a colleague, and accept offers from them, which can be as trivial as a coffee, or better yet, some cash! Basically, a friendlier version of a taxi!
The core of the app is simple: first, you have to sign up to the app and invite contacts to the app. Then it demands , that we set a status from the following three:
Give a Lift
Get a Lift
Then, we can find friends and contacts around and give them a lift, get a lift, or catch up and have a great time.
This is not all. Basically, according to the app, bikes are fuel efficient. So by giving or getting a lift, meraLift claims to give us a chance to do our bit. Also, other forms of technological apps, that distance people by uniting them in a digital interface, this app is all about uniting people, finding friends and having a fun time! The app also claims to help people avoid the crowded public transport means and the expensively priced auto-travels.
This app could be the new thing down the road of apps for everyday use, being an essential component of our lives. Plus, with an easy to use interface, it also could be a commercial biggie, making catching up with friends to ride pillion on their bikes, and giving them rides, much easier than before.
The website for this app also claims to help people 'Save Money, Make Money, Travel Safe, Go Green, Catch-up in person more often'. And, you never know, this could be the new trend of the day for people in the future, who wish to have more than a great time with friends.
meraLift was made available for downloading from Google Play from 24th September, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. The app was launched as part of NIT Trichy's Festember for the year 2015, which one of South India's largest cultural fest. So, what are you waiting for, go ahead, download the app and get in on the fun?
