first school sports and PE Company founded by Saumil Majumdar when his friend complained that his kid
preferred to watch television rather than sweat it out on the playground,
Majumdar came up with a simple, but effective, solution along with Meer
Waqiruddin Khaleeq and Parminder Gill, and Jyoti Majumdar.

about a change in the way sports or physical educationis perceived, that it is not meant only for
competitive children playing for trophies but to be inclusive, and improve the
child's general fitness levels.
EduSports was a shoot-off of Sportz Village which Majumdar had set up in September 2003, according
to them the premise was that sports ought to be an integral part of every
child's education and upbringing. So the four created the infrastructure where
kids could be trained in various sports under one roof. However, it didn't work because it was more about

thinking about approaching different stakeholders who could help them in developing
a physically active generation. Majumdar soon realised that schools would make
ideal partners since their facilities could be used to make sports an integral
part of the school curriculum. While he admits that it was burdensome to
convince the school trustees, Majumdar persevered and finally set up a
the next five months, they waited, and finally got lucky in June 2009, when the
TVS School from Madurai contacted them to manage a comprehensive sports
curriculum. By the end of the first year of operations, the company had managed
to tap 10 more schools and posted a turnover of Rs 60 lakhs.
They now handle the physical education program
from Nursery to the 10thstandard. That includes the curriculum, assessment,
inter-class tournaments, leagues, parent sessions, participating in tournaments
and school team building. For their services they charge Rs. 150-200 per
student per month.
They are currently working
with around 400 schools. There are around 25,000 schools in their price
bracket, and the segment is growing at 5-7% p.a. roughly thousand odd schools
are being added every year. They get an average investment of Rs. 10-12 lakhs
per year from each school.
