Are you amongst the ones who hop in your vehicle and reach late to office because of the endless traffic? Well, you are not alone.
By large, Pune tops the chart in the percentage of vehicles owned by families, followed by Mumbai. The survey states that the percentage of two – wheelers in Pune district is 48.8% compared to Mumbai which amounts to only 16.6%. Consequently, this results in congestion in traffic flow around the city. This, in turn, affects the work ethics, thereby affecting resources as well as employees. Seriously traffic has got into our nerves and we have become immune to the splurging traffic. Do you know we waste around a million barrels of fuel in a day just due to traffic? Just consider the macro view of the situation and let's assume if we try to cut down the excess fuel consumption. For one’s own comfort, vehicles were introduced to mankind. We really were aware of the consequences of the excessive use of vehicles – pollution, traffic, exhaustive use of conventional resources etc. Well maybe not! However, we should be more focused on how to reduce the traffic or pollution rather than cribbing over the bygones. Wouldn't it be really worth an alternative for solving the traffic and fuel problems?
Sounds like a smart solution. And some wise people have also come up with a solution. Thanks to KPIT Technologies for making the most of the digital technology. Yes, this solution sounds plausible for your ongoing issues with this so-called Smart Parking Application.
HOW IT WORKS?
Whenever an employee of KPIT drives his car, he turns on his Smart Parking app that provides real-time data on the parking status in terms of availability and gives the options of parking near the vicinity of the office without any human intervention. As soon as the car enters the office campus, a camera automatically records the number plate data transmitting it to optical character recognition that converts the numeric data to a machine language. This encoded data is then compared with the database to check whether the vehicle is registered or not. Once the authentication is clear, a parking spot is displayed both on the screen as well as on the mobile phone.
Apart from the regular information flow, if it's your birthday or work anniversary, then the application sends you personalized text messages. It also provides you with the estimated time to reach your destination which is synced with Google Maps.
KPIT Technologies is exploiting maximum potential of its Digital technology. The holistic integration is built on Cloud foundry digital platform, an open source platform along with the help of some connectors that allows customizing the application making it user-friendly. To give you an exploded view, the Smart Parking Application is one of the projects of KPIT's Smart Campus that revolves around connecting cafeteria, guest services, parking systems altogether under one single belt.
Apart from KPIT, there are several other industries that are assiduously working on their core areas to make the most of the technology providing a better employee experience. Companies have strengthened their digital transformation practices with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Digital India”. Thus, bolstering the reliance on technology for leveraging the benefits.
